Group retreat 2024
From 20.08.-22.08.2024, the Bomblies group went on their fourth retreat to the Husky-Lodge in Muotathal. This year, the agenda was slightly free-form and we had lots of interesting discussions.
In keeping with tradition, Kirsten started the retreat with a general overview, visions we have for our lab and big ideas moving forward.
Thanvi led discussions of transcription & genome architecture and polyploids. Anis about nuclear size and organization, and Kinga about histones and histone modifications.
We also talked about improving our lab notebook- and protocol culture. And although it was not the main topic this time around, Adrian and Marinela could squeeze in some info about meiosis.
On Wednesday afternoon we went for hikes. One group took the cable car to Illgau and did a roundtrip to Fallenflue Känzeli and back to Illgau via St. Karl. The other group hiked up to Illgau and walked back to the Husky lodge. Both groups seemed to have done some training since last year, because they were much faster than planned. Brigitte is extremely happy about this fit group and plans a monster hike for next year. :-). In the evening we talked, relaxed and played cards.
Thursday morning was free, and we spent our time climbing and improving our balance on the slack line.
But all this sport did unfortunately not burn the calories we consumed during our stay. Some of us will have to go on a diet after this retreat...
